Psychological Evaluations
At Clearview Psychological Services, we provide comprehensive and individualized psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. Our assessments are trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, culturally responsive, and grounded in current research. Each evaluation integrates multiple sources of information to build a clear, accurate understanding of cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental functioning. Our goal is to deliver meaningful insights and practical recommendations that support treatment planning, educational needs, workplace accommodations, and personal clarity.

Types of Evaluations

Diagnostic
Clarification
Some individuals experience symptoms that overlap multiple diagnostic categories, making diagnosis unclear or previously inconsistent. Diagnostic clarification evaluations integrate testing, interview history, and multi-source information to accurately identify underlying conditions and rule out diagnostic alternatives. This is particularly helpful when previous diagnoses have not fully explained symptoms, or when treatment or therapeutic response has been limited or inconsistent. Our goal is to provide clarity through understanding that informs treatment and recommendations to help you achieve the goals you are seeking!

Military Service / Nexus Letters
We provide psychological documentation linking current mental health symptoms to military service-related experiences when appropriate. This includes trauma-exposure assessment, service-context symptom analysis, and narrative support for nexus opinions when requested and clinically supported.

Autism & ADHD Evaluations
We assess neurodevelopmental features across social communication, attention, executive functioning, sensory processing, and adaptive behavior. Our evaluations are culturally informed and neuroaffirming — focusing on strengths as well as challenges. We differentiate autism and ADHD from anxiety, trauma responses, mood disorders, personality traits, and cognitive differences to ensure accurate identification and meaningful support recommendations for ages 3+.

Bariatric Pre-Surgical Evaluations
These evaluations assess psychological readiness for bariatric surgery, including behavioral patterns, coping strategies, follow-through capacity, mental health history, and postoperative risk factors. The focus is not to prevent surgery but to support successful surgical outcomes and long-term lifestyle adjustments.

Learning & Cognitive Evaluations
These evaluations examine intellectual functioning, processing speed, working memory, auditory and visual processing, academic performance, and patterns of cognitive strengths and challenges. Results can help clarify whether learning difficulties reflect a specific learning disability, cognitive processing difference, attention-related factor, emotional condition, or a combination of factors. Recommendations support IEP/504 planning, academic accommodations, and individualized learning strategies as well as accommodations for home and treatment options.

Evaluations for Immigration
We conduct compassionate, trauma-sensitive evaluations for extreme hardship waivers, VAWA petitions, U-Visas, T-Visas, and asylum proceedings. These evaluations document psychological impact, trauma history, functional impairment, and emotional consequences of separation, displacement, abuse, or return risk. Reports are written with respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.
What to Expect During My Evaluation
Evaluations are conducted in a structured, supportive, and respectful manner. Appointments are typically scheduled in 4-hour testing blocks, most often on Thursdays or Fridays, to allow enough time for both interview and testing components without feeling rushed.
1. Diagnostic Interview
We begin with a clinical interview to understand history, current concerns, symptoms, strengths, challenges, developmental or medical background, and relevant personal or contextual information. This helps ensure the evaluation is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.
2. Administration of Standardized Tests
Based on the purpose of the evaluation, you will complete a selection of standardized psychological or cognitive assessments. These may include tasks related to:
-
attention
-
memory
-
problem solving
-
social understanding
-
academic abilities
-
emotional experience
-
coping
-
functional behavior
The process is paced and explained clearly — you’ll always know what you’re doing and why.
3. Breaks and Comfort
You may request breaks at any time. Many people find the process mentally engaging but not stressful. You will never be tested under pressure, and you can always ask questions or check in as needed.
4. Scoring and Interpretation
After the session, the testing data is scored and interpreted using validated criteria and individualized clinical judgment. This includes integrating interviews, test results, collateral input (when appropriate), and previous records.
5. Written Report
You will receive a comprehensive report that includes:
-
clear diagnostic conclusions (if applicable)
-
clinical interpretation
-
strengths and needs
-
practical recommendations for next steps
(therapy, accommodations, referrals, etc.)
6. Feedback Session
Once the report is completed, we will schedule a virtual 30-minute follow-up meeting to review the results together. During this session, findings are discussed in plain, understandable language — with time for questions and clarification.
Payment Options
Psychological evaluations are billed at a flat rate, with fees based on the type of assessment, the complexity of the case, and the measures required. A specific quote will be provided during the intake scheduling process so you will know the exact cost before testing begins.

(includes interview, testing, scoring, interpretation, written report, and feedback session) -

FAQ
How do I know which type of evaluation I need?
We’ll clarify this during a brief intake conversation. You don’t need to know ahead of time — we will determine the appropriate assessment based on your needs and concerns.
Do I need a referral?
No. Referrals are welcome but not required.
Do you evaluate adults as well as children?
Yes. We provide evaluations across the lifespan, including adults seeking diagnostic clarity.
How long does testing take?
This varies depending on the evaluation, but most are completed in one session lasting 2–6 hours, or split into two shorter sessions.
How soon will I receive the results?
Most written reports are completed within 2–3 weeks after testing. Rush/expedited options may be available when clinically appropriate. You will receive a comprehensive written evaluation report with results, interpretation, and recommendations.
Can the results be used for school accommodations, IEPs/504, or workplace accommodations?
Yes, in many cases. Learning and cognitive evaluations include documentation appropriate for IEP/504 planning and educational supports. Reports can also support reasonable accommodation requests under ADA guidelines when diagnostically appropriate.
Can testing confirm or rule out autism or ADHD?
Yes. We use validated instruments and multi-source data to determine whether diagnostic criteria are met or if other conditions better explain symptoms.
Do you take insurance?
We are self-pay only. You may request an itemized receipt (Superbill) to submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you provide therapy after the evaluation?
We provide therapy for adults, especially first responders, veterans, and individuals navigating trauma-related concerns. Otherwise, we provide referrals.
Are results confidential?
Yes. Results are confidential and only released to others with your written authorization, unless legally required.
Can parents attend part of the child’s evaluation?
Parents may be present for the interview portion, but not during standardized testing, as it may affect results.
What if I’ve had previous evaluations?
We will review prior reports and incorporate them into the interpretation to understand change over time, consistency of results, and diagnostic history.
